because my initial visit during our dinner at Lucky Seafood was fruitless...
But that all changed a couple of hours later...
Last time I was there, it was the same thing. This time the young guy said, "Come back at 9. The guy who makes them comes in at that time" (previously it was the magical hour of 8 pm).
When we arrived, the racks were once again replenished by Mr. Donut Maker who comes in at 8 pm.
Yay for him!
There were two older grizzled men talking business besides us three. Seems like those guys were there the last time as well! It must be "their time" to shoot the breeze and have donuts and coffee. And here's what I wanted (again)...
along with a maple buttermilk bar (Bert's choice), a blueberry buttermilk bar, the two freshly made blueberry donuts, one glazed old fashioned, and one strawberry glzed.
These were still warm...and tender, not fried hard or dark either.
I like the purplish blue swirls in the buttermilk bar...
I have to say it, "I like this better than >Crispy's version" (OMG, did I just say that!)!
Last visit to Donut Stop:
October 2013 in which we attended another literary event that same evening...

Looking forward to more visits to Mira Mesa, if only to go to Donut Stop!

This place closes at 10pm and is open at like 4am. They are serious! I don't think I have spied the strawberry ones before - how were those?
