Lush Gelato @ the Epicurious Garden

Someone should have warned me about this area...

because there are just so many tempting places to check out, like this gelato place in what they call, the "Epicurious Garden"...

which is a collection of eateries and dessert places (gelato & chocolate) in an enclosed building with it's own Zen garden in the back.

I remember seeing Lush Gelato in Oakland during our summer trip in 2011, but it was closed and we ended up going somewhere else that day.  This was the other location.

We opted to just get two smalls. Bert and I, in our "old age" (haha) and reduced metabolisms, would just share. TC on the other hand can still hold her own...

We got the St. George's bourbon & butterfingers flavor while TC chose the Madagascar vanilla bean.

Our last hurrah before heading over to Thane's...

The bourbon had a tiny bit of a kick, but we really liked it, especially the butterfinger pieces within which gave it some texture.

There was a chocolate shop inside (Alegio Chocolate) but we were already sugared out!

By the time we were done with our gelato, the crowds in the hidden garden area thinned out.

It was actually quite a pretty place to have a quick rest and enjoy our gelato.

See the sun? We would enjoy a few days of nice SoCal-like weather and were lucky enough to skip out on the storm a few days later.

It was finally time to head over to Thane's place in El Cerrito...

Oh my gosh, I'd forgotten about this little nook! I've never bought the chocolates from the shop inside... they were super gourmet and expensive. Lush always had really interesting new flavors! The bourbon sounds yummy :)
