Niederfrank's once more

After our short excursion to Big Ben Specialty Market, we kept some of our stuff in the truck, then headed across the street...

we kept some of our stuff in the truck, then headed across the street...
to get a small scoop before heading home...

Of course TC was only too happy to have some ice cream...

This painting of National City looked new, but then, I hadn't been here in close to two years, so what do I know!

The prices are on the high side ($3.25 for one scoop/they don't split flavors either), but man, the quality is so good!

Guess which one I tried?

Raspberry sour beer with raspberry marble for me and canteloupe for TC.

Cones, not cups.

I couldn't really taste the alcohol in mine (darnit, just kidding). I liked the flavor and it could probably pair well with chocolate.

TC's scoop was a light and refreshing flavor...

Last visit to Niederfrank's:
October 2012

I remember reading somewhere that sometimes the employees "feel the presence" of founder Mr. Niederfrank and that shop is "haunted".  Yikes. As long as they keep making good ice cream, I'll go despite these stories! But seriously, Niederfrank's is a National City institution that puts out a quality product. I'm hoping they stick around for 50 more years!
