Ryan Brothers Coffee

Our last stop during that beautiful sunny day was here in Barrio Logan...

Although we'd been gifted their coffee before by RH's husband, we'd never visited the actual storefront until today...

It's a hard to miss brick building located at the corner of Main and Cesar Chavez Parkway (which in the old days used to be called Crosby Street)...

The regal Coronado Bay Bridge lies a short distance away...

As you walk in, you are greeted with the aromatic scent of freshly ground coffees...

The warehouse like space is spacious. There is a big room in the bag where they roast their coffees...

We each ordered a beverage - for TC, an white chocolate frap for Bert an iced specialty drink, a "Milky Way", and for me, a "modified" coffee stout. I'll explain in a tiny bit.

The guy working here was very friendly and approachable, not like at some places where they treat you like crap if you don't know what you want right away or aren't cool or hipster looking enough, haha. The guy saw my worried expression when he told me that the coffee stout had FOUR espresso shots. I didn't think I would be able to handle drinking that and get to sleep that evening. He compromised and said he could add more milk and only put in two espresso shots.

Sold! I liked that he offered that option to me. I guess he could tell I really wanted to try that coffee stout drink, which was indeed a pretty bold drink (For the record, I was able to sleep without any problems later that night!).

There were only a few patrons the afternoon of our visit and a few walk ins (some military looking dudes with porn staches).

Our drinks:

This was a pretty strong drink!

I had to add some sugar to tone it down!

Their roasting room in the back, near the bathrooms...

A small room towards the front...

This was cute - These are drawings from elementary school kids who went here for a field trip. Ha, they're too young to drink coffee but they got to witness the roasting process.

I would totally get this again (the two espresso shot version)!

Nice folks here and not pretentious at all. Glad we went!

We are slowly making our rounds through San Diego's coffee joints and enjoying the "research" process!

That's awesome he suggested a modification to the drink - good customer service! The porn 'staches comment made me chuckle.

Yeah, the guy was really nice and I appreciated his customer service. Sometimes you hear of asshole baristas who only want to do drinks a certain way and look down on those who don't really know about coffee. i appreciated that he did that 20shot version for me.
