TORC and I would be getting our ice cream sandwices on here...
This was a place I'd been curious about and it was conveniently near our lunch spot...

How can anyone resist these tempting chalkboard drawings?

I am a weak-willed wimp when it comes to desserts. My trainer would kill me if she knew, ha ha. But then again, she can be a candy fiend when she wants to be.
This place sells ice cream sandwiches s well as individual cookies and brownies, and even ice cream sundaes. If you want to be adventurous, you can order a combo cookie/brownie ice cream sandwich.

See how empty this was? It got crazy packed within minutes! This was a popular place, judging from the brisk service. Lots of beach bunnies here. Tourists as well. Good on the owners. They have a prime spot right near the beach and the pier! Score! Their prices are also pretty affordable. Nothing is over $5.

The cookie selection:

Plus brownies and waffles...

I had to get the waffle ice cream sandwich; I chose chocolate chip.

The ice cream was placed IN the waffle where the sandwich was toasted in this contraption.

Here's my waffle sandwich joined by TORC's chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich...

Holy hell! THAT was one big ass scoop!

Hmmm, come to think of it, she had the better deal, at $2.95 for this. Mine was $1 more and had less ice cream (but then I don't think they could adequately toast a waffle ice cream sandwich with that same sized scoop).

TORC's monstrosity proved to be too formidable. There was no way she could finish that in one shot.

On the other hand, my dessert was more manageable.

It was a great end to another lunch outing with one of my dearest friends.

I can't believe we've known each other for 20 years already.

One last look before the drive home...

View traveling south in the 5 - Aiport parking, Lindbergh Field, San Diego Bay, and in the distance, Point Loma.

On the 54 heading west from the 5 - view of Mount Miguel and the river that separates National City and Chula Vista.

I'd love to go back there with Bert and TC and try another combination.
Who else went to The Baked Bear?
Both Kirbie and Cathy were on point, having both visited within days of each other (without knowing of it) and posting nearly at the same time!

I'm glad that we tried this place out. Now, if someone (not me) could try that brownie/cookie ice cream sandwich combo!

They use the same size ice cream scoop..I thought. The waffle filling does look smaller though. In any case, this is a great concept, easy for the store to accomplish and a perfect location. We must remember to patronize here during "winter".
it sure looks like i got the short end of the stick, ha ha. but it works out since i couldn't have finished a giant scoop like what she had. she couldn't manage it either.
yes, our "cold" san diego winters....
