iSushi

This past weekend, we met up with our good friend, Superman at a local sushi place...

If the outside looks familiar, it's because it used to be the Chamorro restaurant, Yokozuna's (which then became Yokoz and then went downhill)...

This place has been open for almost a year now so I thought we would check it out...

Gone are the islander decorations, the rattan, the bamboo, and the tropical plants. It was replaced with a sleek and modern look. Not something I expected, I suppose.

The sushi bar was still there though...

This place serves regular meal plates, lunch bentos, as well as sushi (traditional and the non-traditional rolls).

Here's just a sampling of what they offer...

We were just going to eat light since we had a surprise party to go to later that afternoon. Just a few rolls for all of us to share, plus Supe's edamame.

I wasn't very inspired by this place. The rolls weren't that great, so no major closeups. TC's roll was the (half-eaten by the time of this photo), the Crunch Roll, I had my Salmon Skin roll, while Bert had the Caterpillar roll and another one...

The Hurricane roll was a Philly roll with deep fried yam bits on top. There was also some sort of messy sauce, which I didn't like.

This looked like a big mess to me, but Bert liked it. I just thought it was just too much "flash" and not enough filler.  Maybe their other stuff is good but I just thought it was average. Our server was really nice. He did double duty as both the receptionist as well as serving customers. The place was pretty popular as well with a diverse clientele.

They do not have a website

Anyhow, we came and we tried it. Despite the lackluster food, it was still good catching up with Superman although we wished our time schedule wasn't so constrained. Hopefully we will catch up with more time to spare in the near future.
