This blue building is the old restaurant. The newer one was just down the pier...
Located on the grounds of the Pacific Oyster Company is the dine in restaurant, the Fish Peddler.

The rest of the building is an oyster shucking facility and seafood processing and distributing plant.

Our drive from Cannon Beach to Bay City took about an hour, so we were definitely hungry again!

I wanted some fried oysters...

Their menu...

I didn't see the Oyster Burger that WC had, but the waitress said they'd make one for me.

Bert and I tried the Oyster Shooters with a side of lemon, horseradish and cocktail sauce. This was my first real raw oyster.

I was a bit squeamish but I ate it! And by "ate", I didn't swallow it whole, but rather, I squeezed everything on top and had a bite. And wow, that oyster was not "slimy" or "gross" at all. It was so fresh as in literally shucked right before serving. It was really sweet and clean tasting. Even TC had a bite of the oyster shooter and really liked it as well.

Of course, we had to try their Clam Chowder here. Instead of a tiny cup, we opted for the big bowl which we shared. Like Ecola Seafoods, it was also dusted with paprika on the top. In abundance were the thick, chopped clams. No bacon but still very rich and creamy.

My oyster burger which was shared by all - Three huge breaded and fried oysters served burger style with fried and tartar sauce on the side. I'd been wanting this for so long! Maybe I should have ordered two! It was so damn good!

More of that chowder...

Of the two chowders we had, we enjoyed this one better than Ecola Seafood's version. We were originally going to get clam chowder at Mo's which is in Newport. However, we didn't take into account the long drive times so we had to scratch off Newport from our itinerary once we realized a visit wouldn't fit. Bummer too, since Newport is also home to Rogue's Ale Brewery which we also wanted to visit. Next time!
As we drove by, I was on the lookout for this,

The humongous mound of oyster shells as you exit the parking lot!
Who else went to Pacific Oyster Company?
Wandering Chopsticks went here in 2006 and again in 2009!

Whoa. I have to mentally prepare myself for raw oysters and that photo was pretty graphic. Good for TC having a bit!
