I'm not!

This is where we went for my MIL's bday dinner. Joining us were both of my BIL's, and my nephew...
This place has been year for at least two years now. It's the closest Vietnamese place. Not as good as Pho Hiep Chateau but all right when you want your quick fix of VN food.

Bert and I ordered their iced coffee. Maybe this was on off day or something, but this was the weakest and worst tasting iced coffee we've ever had. There was hardly any coffee and waaaay too much condensed milk. Plus all that ice watered it down so much. I don't remember their coffee being this bad before.

The nephew ordered a skewer of beef meatball. He's twelve (going on 13) and eats like a bird.

TC ordered the shrimp and pork spring rolls to share with her cousin...

My MIL's Chickem Com Tam...they always give a lot of chicken!

My oldest BIL's Beef Short Ribs over Com Tam. I wished I got that instead but I was still full from the meals I had earlier that day.

One of TC's favorites, the Bun with Beef Short Ribs...Smelled delicious!

Bert's Pho Tai...

My Shrimp Paste with Sugarcane (on top of these flattened vermicelli squares)...

and the garnish plate (lettuce, mint, cucumbers, pickled carrots and radish) to go with the rice papers for the wraps dish.

The loose roll that I made with the shrimp paste piece. I like the interactive nature of this dish. I also wasn't concerned with being overly neat and wrapping this perfectly...

Everyone enjoyed their dishes (except for our iced coffees). We went to our house later to have my MIL's birthday dessert, the fruit strudel from Hans and Harry's....
Back to Oregon...
