ABC Humpday Music Videos 2.0 - "Q" is for

I could have taken the easy way out and chosen "Queen" (classic rock but already done last time) or "Queensryche" (heavy metal), or even Q-Feel (new wave)....or if I was desperate, Stacy Q (Two of Hearts, two hearts that beat as one....)!!!

This entry is from a different decade for once! The 70's.

Here's the first clue (answer at the end of this post)....

Ooh, I like her dress, but that's besides the point...

Second clue...

Hmmm...look familiar?

No, this is not Bella Swan's red truck!

Still not sure? This clue will definitely give it away...

as well as this map...

If you couldn't get all those references, you probably weren't a child of the 70's...

This post features a famous TV theme song by the legendary Quincy Jones, noted African American composer, musician, record producer and television producer (among his many hats)....

Without further ado, the FULL version of the theme song for "Sanford & Son" which is called "The Streetbeater" (which refers to the red trunk Lamont drives to pick up junk for their business):

And there you have it, the theme song for one of my favorite 70's sitcoms, "Sanford and Son" performed by the legendary Quincy Jones.

If you think you haven't heard anything Quincy Jones has done, think again.

Remember the opening song for "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" (the first movie)? "Soul Bossa Nova". Composed and arranged by Quincy Jones.

"It's My Party (and I'll Cry if I Want to) and "You Don't Own Me" by Leslie Gore? Produced by Quincy Jones.

Michael Jackson's hit albums, "Off the Wall" (my first LP ever), "Thriller", "Bad" were all produced by Quincy Jones.

So you get the point. The man's influence was far and wide in many genres of music, soul, hip hop, bossa nova, pop, and jazz...

But back to "Sanford and Son"...
Here are some classic lines from Fred G. Sanford:

"You big dummy!"
"This is the big one Elizabeth, I'm coming to join ya' honey!"
"I ain't afraid to give you one across the lips!"

And we can't forget Aunt Esther:

"You old fish eyed fool!"
"Why you big heathen!"
"Watch it sucka!"

Answer to the clues,
1) Rashida Jones", one of the daughters of Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton.
2) 1951 red Ford Pickup (the one depicted is not the one used in the opening sequence)
3) Ripple is one of Fred Sanford's favorite drinks; it is also known as a cheap 'fortified wine' and was popular in the 70's
4) El Segundo is the location of Sanford and Son's junkyard empire

Those TV theme songs from the 70's were great weren't they?

Think about it..."Happy Days", "Laverne and Shirley", "The Love Boat", "Charlie's Angels", "S.W.A.T.", "Chico and the Man", "Starsky and Hutch", "Three's Company"...the list can go on but I'll cut it off here!

Previous post - "Q" is for Queen

Next week, one of my favorite letters...."R"!
