This past weekend I saw MFH once again but this time for a baby shower...

Our hairstylist was a hosting a baby shower for her son and his wife...To show you how old I am, her son was my FORMER student 17 years ago! (WT.....)
If you can't tell, they're going to have a girl...

Our stylist's backyard was decorated in a simple but beautiful manner.

The buffet dessert table featuring cupcakes, a "pull-apart" cake made of cupcakes, macarons from Big Joy (I was surprised but happy to see those), and various cookies, candies, and sweets in apothecary jars and vases.

There were several tables laden with all types of dishes. Here we have French toast with berries, a gelatin cake, two types of pasta salad, and fruit salad in a watermelon bowl. I'm not sure what those tostadas were doing there though!

More of that delicious French toast...I got the caramelized corner!

Now these flans were what impressed me! Four of 'em!!!

The hostess made them and said they were "Puerto Rican" style.

which was different from this other flan that someone brought in. This was bigger and looks like it was made in a bowl. After sampling the two types of flan, MFH and I came to the conclusion that the hostess's was much better. This bigger flan was more "loose" and "eggy" tasting (MFH hates eggs). The thinner and flatter flan had a smoother mouthfeel and was more dense in texture. That's the way mine is. There was also a slight coconut flavor to her flan. What I enjoyed about these were the added flowers which were dusted with powdered sugar. Very pretty!

And then we had some quiche...Corner only for me!

The breakfast buffet included sausages and eggs (in the chafing dish) with salsa...

along with roasted potatoes...

and what she called, "Pastel Azteca". This was a layered casserole dish made with tortillas, cheese, shredded chicken, some sort of red sauce, corn, and chopped red peppers!

Gooey cheese...

Puerto Rican style beans (I didn't have these so I can't attest as to whether it was good or not)...

Next to the beans was a pancake and waffle station...I skipped out on these since I had some of that Pastel Azteca and quiche earlier.

There was even a flat top skillet out there! I want one of those! Well, actually Bert does since he likes making breakfast!

More fruits....

We didn't stay too long since we didn't really know a lot of people there.
Dine 'n dash.
Eat 'n run!
Not really, but we stayed long enough to "make our appearance". MFH and I congratulated her son and his wife. He still called me, Miss XX then corrected himself. I mean, he is in his early 30's now! Well, we both wished the happy couple well. They expect the baby to come in less than a month!
Up next...the return of the Oregon and Epic Birthday food crawl posts!
