Return to Broken Yolk Cafe

Hey where's the long lines? Wait, that's the Garnet Avenue location in PB. All the way back near Sprout's (formerly 'Henry's') at the Eastlake Village Walk shopping center is the Chula Vista location of the Broken Yolk Cafe.

The Broken Yolk is also where that guy from "Man vs. Food" went two years ago and had some massive omelette (gross), but that was again, the PB location. I was here with the co-workers for our annual planning meeting....

See how empty it was? It was completely packed when we left two hours later. We had a "working" breakfast and were sat in a nice and quiet corner which was conveniently near the bathrooms.

Their menu is egg shaped, get it?

You can see their complete menu online here. I ordered from the sides menu:

My health conscious friend got an omelette of egg whites filled with grilled vegetables, fresh fruit, and a blueberry muffin. Their muffins are horrible because they taste like white cake and there were hardly any blueberries in it.

My friend, La Ley had the Polish sausage with hash browns, two sunny side up eggs and wheat toast. i like how sunny side eggs look but I don't like the runny yolk.

Two of my co-workers got the same thing...An omelette with vegetables and mushrooms with a side of beans. Another one just had fresh fruit (not pictured)...

This was my breakfast, which was all "Sides". I had a side of pork sausage patties, a side of hash browns, and a side of two scrambled eggs. It seemed like three eggs rather than two. It was such a big portion. Liked the eggs and sausage. The hash browns were not as crisp as I would have liked them to be.

Afterwards, we hashed out more of our duties and reviewed our planning calendars across the shopping center. We enjoyed the sun in the covered tables near the koi pond. Once we were done, it was time for, you guessed it, LUNCH!

I noticed this...

This is the former site of the Brigantine (where TC, D and I ate after watching the Bieber flick last year) will be a new Karina's, a local Mexican chain).

Previous visit to Broken Yolk - November 2008 with Bert, the Sexy Nurse and her husband...

Up next, Thai Food...
