World Market

I'm totally posting out of order! This is back to Mother's Day...

Before heading home, we stopped by World Foods Market on El Cajon...

I wanted to pick up some fresh herbs - Vietnamese Coriander (rau ram) and mint. Totally dirt cheap here - .69 a bunch! Not like those sad microscopic wilted packages at Fresh and Easy or Wal-Mart.

I was planning to make rice paper wraps for the week. I wanted the rau ram for my bastardized version of chicken salad.

Fresh lotus roots below (the tan colored vegetable):

They had all kinds of noodles here to please every Asian persuasion. Orchids brand is popular with the Filipinos. Plus your vermicelli for the Southeast Asians...

And even more rice noodles!

Interesting snacks at the checkout counter...geared towards Latinos and Asians? My mouth is just watering thinking about that pineapple with chamoy.

I thought that sign was funny, "Please Do Not Sit On the Rice"!

So there you have it...if you're ever up for Pho at Ca Dao on 52nd and El Cajon, the World Market is behind it, just down the hill...

We were going to have Vietnamese food for days!

I love going to ethnic markets. Lots of great finds and good deals on the produce used for particular cultures...
