ABC Music Humpday Videos 2.0 - "T" is for...

Although this song originally came out in the late 70's, it was the first song featured in one of the best movies of all time...

Here's a bit of a clue that relates to the scene it plays in the movie...

Need another hint?

Oh my gosh, the shoe gives it ALL away!

To end your misery, this song can only be from former Rolling Stone wunderkind Cameron Crowe's directorial debut:

Yes, I'm talkin' 'about "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" baby.

Here's the original sleeve for the 45, released in 1977 by one of my favorite bands, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The chiming guitars are reminiscent of The Byrds...

The song was reprised the opening scene of "Fast Times" where the students of Ridgemont are toilet papering the school on the first day. (Wait, the first song was actually "We Got the Beat" by the Go-Go's but that plays during the beginning credits, but this would be the first REAL scene)

Without further ado, American Girl!

Here's the scene from the movie with the chopped up song. This is from the MOVIE version, not the video version. Just ignore the words "EVALUATION COPY" on the video.

"Well she was an American Girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin'
That there was a little more to life somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
And if she had to die tryin'
She had one little promise she was gonna keep

Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was...an American Girl"

Previous entry - "T" is for The Time!

I am gonna have a hard time with next week since I already used "U2"!
