Oregon Trip - Highlights - Day 8

Hey we're back...from cold, miserable and rainy weather to this!

It is so nice to be back in San Diego!

Although our trip may be done, my next monumental task will be to eke out these posts like that Duggar woman does kids.

Usually when we travel, we try to not do repeats of restaurants or cuisines. This particular morning however, we broke that rule. We had to go back to this Vietnamese soup place. We went last Sunday for their soup. This was Saturday and the soups were different so we just "had" to try it...

These guys were here last week. Must be the regulars...

Bert's first taste of Bun Bo Hue...

We were originally going to watch a movie, but there was a mixup when TC was looking up movie times on Bert's phone (she looked up the wrong theater...in the wrong state!). So, to kill some time, we went to get our nickels on (again), this time at the Wunderland in the SE Belmont area (we first went here three years ago)..

I'm very competitive you know.

Not.

Anyone up for a game of 18-Wheeler? Love our pimpy driver!

Then, it was off to this REALLY OLD amusement park in the Sellwood area.

How old?  More than 100+ years.

As we were driving around for parking, we noticed the Hangar, the rink used for some of the women's roller derby games. That night we were supposed to watch the "animal clad Guns 'n Rollers" versus the "rockabilly clad Break Neck Betties". As mentioned in a previous post, we couldn't do so because tickets were sold out. I thought it would be easy to just get them at the door! Wrong! Fail on me! It would have been fun to watch. As I walked in, I saw a lot of the players practicing on the floor and stretching out. Those gals looked pretty tough!

Now, what is that blue thing you see?

It's called the damn sky! And it was finally showing, along with it's happy friend, the warm fireball we know as the sun!

At this point, we figured it would be all right to do the park (free admission!) and have TC do some rides...

At least things were drying up...

TC's wristband also included a skate session at the Rink (not the roller derby rink!). Bert and I got some skates as well. All I'll tell you is this...my legs hurt like an $#%& by the end of the day!

Our pre-dinner snack at a Balkan place (Chevapi sausage and Bosnian pita bread which is waaaay better than Greek pita bread and different too!).

Another pre-dinner snack brought us back to our 2nd repeat of the day, to the Good Food Here pod on SE Belmont...

This time, to try a savory wrap...

I couldn't believe the sun decided to come out for a tiny bit, but it was perfect timing since we were at the amusement park. If it was still raining, we would have gone to the movies again. We got to try different cuisines and again, explore more of the SE area...
