Insert gong sound here...
Same menu as last year...

We shared our table with a mom, her three girls and her mother who was celebrating her 69th birthday. That woman did not look her age! She looked at least ten years younger! I hope I look that good when I'm 69!

I had the Surf Side (all seafood) while Bert had Steak and Shrimp. TC opted to have sushi rolls.

Our onion soup appetizer...

Green salad with ginger soy dressing which I liked.

Yeji our (Latino) chef who was making fried rice for the rest of the dinner party.

He put in lots of butter, fried egg, chopped chicken and garlic powder (that's my secret ingredient too!). Then he added the soy sauce last. A bit heavy handed in my opinion.

Bert's fried rice. It looks naked without sliced green onions or green peas.

I love the way they cut their shrimp so precisely here. Yeji cutting the shrimp and prepping the vegetable appetizers (zucchini and onions).

Next was the seafood - Shrimp, Calamari Steak (it was so good! very tender!) and scallops (This is Top Chef, not Top Scallop! as uttered by current Yahoo chef, Fabio)!

Mmm, those onions were really tasted. Glad I went with all seafood this year...

I didn't eat my steamed rice (not pictured)...There was a lot of food on that plate with leftovers for the next day. I was trying to pace myself...

TC's sushi rolls which we "helped" her with - Crunchy roll (far back), California roll and Tuna roll.

Bert's plate - Filet mignon with vegetables and scallops...I snuck in a few pieces of the steak!

Lastly, they brought in ice cream with a lit up candle as they sang Happy Birthday to me and the older lady. That's a Pocky stick you see in the ice cream. TC went to town with the cherry trying to tie the stem into a knot.

Goodbye waving cat!

Last year's visit to Benihana's...
I think I had Bert sign up for this but he didn't utilize his birthday meal. Well, until next year or if I find something more exciting! It was so wierd for us to be out having dinner on a week night. We almost never go out unless it's a Friday or weekend, so this was a special treat, but mainly because the Birthday meal certificate is only valid Mondays through Thursdays, dammit.
Up next - more bday meals with family and friends...
