After "enjoying" more than a week of gloomy Morrissey-worthy weather in Portland that hovered in the low 50's, we got slammed with 80+ heat yesterday...
Hey, I'd rather be warm than freezing my @$$ off
But back to this post.
This rock band was a runner up to my original "M" post a year and a half ago...
I used to think the lead singer and the bass player were so hot! All that
As usual, here are a few clues:
The drummer was a lanky former marching band geek and later became notorious for his former marriage to a Baywatch babe and a certain, uh "videotape" of their extracurricular activities.Wow, I didn't know you could STEER A BOAT with THAT!
The bass player at one point used to date Vanity, a former Prince protege (of the girl group Vanity 6 of "Nasty Girl" fame). He is now a radio host and sometimes I catch his show on the way home from the gym in the early evening.
Oh, and they all had massive drug problems (see Penelope Spheeris's "Decline of Western Civilization Part II - The Metal Years). But then again, what rock star didn't?
Guess who yet?
Of course, this band is the one and the only Motley Crue!

This song is one of my favorites from this 80's metal band, from their sophomore album, "Shout at the Devil" (1983) which also had the hits "Too Young to Fall in Love", "Shout at the Devil" and their cover of the Beatles' "Helter Skelter", andanother personal favorite, "Bastard"!
MTV actually played videos back then. The Summer of '83 was awesome because all they played was Hard Rock! Def Leppard, Quiet Riot, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, along with the Crue.
Astroboi, this is for you and all the times we used to sing this back in the day...
"Now listen up
She's razor sharp
If she don't her way
She'll slice you apart
Now she's a cool cool black
She moves like a cat
If you don't get her game
Well you might not make it back
She's got the looks that kill
that kill...
She's got the looks that kill
that kill...
She's got the look!"
and my favorite line:
"ooh and believe me you, she's a NUMBER THIRTEEN!"

This video has all of the 80's metal video cliches:
Dudes in heavy theatrical makeup
Fire
Long hair teased out to THERE
Aquanet (see 'long hair')
Outrageous costumes
Scantily clad chicks writhing about in cages
Fire and explosions
Bad acting
Poor lip syncing skills...
and fire!!!
Strike up your horned devil salute, flick your bics and bang your heads!
The Crue was hilariously parodied in Bowling for Soup's video, "1985", a clever pastiche of 80's video icons (Robert Palmer - "Addicted to Love", George Michael - "Faith", and 80's B-Boy fashion and break dancing)...
My previous post:
"M" is for the Monroes! (No fire in that video!)
Next week - whatever shall I do for N?
