I was getting too excited slamming out my Day 2 Oregon trip posts.
Well, once again, another song and another band from my favorite decade.
Here's a clue:

I didn't even realize until years later that those digital symbols represented each member of the Police! Duh on me! The middle symbol is supposed to be Sting (see the 'spiked' hair?).

Gawd, look how young they were back then! Even Sting looked pretty good himself. Now he's 60 years old or something!
This song is one of my favorites as a young pre-teen (we weren't called 'tweens back then) and it comes from this album, "Ghost in the Machine" which was released in October 1981. It was the first Police album to use English in the title. The previous albums were "Outlandos d'Amour", "Regatta de Blanc", and "Zenyatta Mondatta". We used to listen to Casey Kasem count down the top 40 hits on the radio. I remember when I first heard this song, which later got up to number three on the Billboard charts in November of the same year.

The video was filmed in famed music producer George Martin's studio on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. You can see the Police dancing around with the island folks in the video.
Without further ado, "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic":
More interesting trivia about this song here
"I resolve to call her up
A thousand times a day...
and ask her if she'll marry me
In some old fashioned way
But my silent fears have gripped me
and before I reach the phone
Long before my tongue has tripped me
Must I always be alone..."
I love the sheer exuberance in this song! Gorgeous intro, romantic lyrics (a bit borderline stalkery) and happy calypso beats...
Previous entry - "P" is for the Plimsouls
Next week will be "Q"...

I only "got" the Ghost in the Machine cover concept like three months ago, seeing the album up on the wall at BRG in Point Loma. I was in such disbelief at my "discovery" that I checked Wikipedia to verify. =:^)

you know, GITM was my LEAST favorite Police album. i felt it had too much horns. not into that.
