Return to Coffee Tea & Collective, East Village

Taking the 5 to J Street seems to be the easiest way to get to the East Village...

Finding parking along Market has been relatively easy in the mornings before it gets crowded...

We wanted to visit this place once more...and OMG, I just noticed but does that little squiggle down at the bottom look like a SPERM?

Well it does.  I just don't want it in my coffee thank you very much.

So yeah, we were back to Coffee Tea & Collective (combining it with breakfast afterwards, guess where).

Bert had the Colombian pourover (he wanted something different since he's had Ethiopian already) while I had the Gibraltar again.

I really like this...the Gibraltar is so named for the Libbey glass Gibraltar tumbler in which it's served. The drink is a double shot of espresso with a splash of milk. I like the size too, only 4 oz. I am liking the smaller (but more potent) doses of coffee rather than those 12 oz monsters that look and taste like watery swill. Bert's pourover wasn't fruity like the Ethiopian but more earthy and a hint of a chocolate taste to it.

Isn't that milk and crema beautiful? Meant to be sipped and savored...

And here is rather craptastic stealth shot of someone's hipster toast with avocado. I believe they called it "Savory Avocado Toast" which is basically a dollar's worth of avocado smashed onto thick "artisanal" bread and whipped goat cheese (barf) and sprinkled with house made tajin. Hmmmm. Would I want to pay $6 for this thing?

The answer is a big fucking NO. But here is a shot of that $6 toast for ya.  Dayum, you can buy 30 avocados for $6 from the dude selling bags off of the 805 and Plaza Blvd or even at Save a Lot down south (assuming their avocado is still specially priced at $5 for 5; hell, my parents bought about 25 o' those).

Looks like they are still working on this enclosed space within the coffee shop/juice bar.

Previous visit to this location:

We wanted to take advantage of Half Door's offer so that was our next stop...breakfast.
