It's the Dirty Dozen! 12th Blogaversary for PCaRH!

Can you believe it...

This blog is now in it's twelfth year...

which is a long time in blog years.

It's surreal that something that I started for fun a dozen years ago is still "alive".

This occasion was celebrated with a strawberries and cream mini bundt cake topped with the appropriate number of pink candles (the only kind I could find in the pantry).

Delicious this was...

I kept thinking how I could do this...Dozen donuts?  Roses even? Twelve pack of beer? No. Pink Candles was perfect.

To those of us in our late (cough) 40's,  our generation certainly remembers watching Saturday morning cartoons.  In between the shows would be commercials as well as educational snippets from Schoolhouse Rock, which taught many of us these gems such as "The Preamble to the Constitution", "How a bill becomes a Law", along with rules of grammar "Conjunction Junction (What's your function)", "Unpack your Adjectives" and a whole series that taught math including the numbers.  The videos and songs were both catchy and sometimes disturbing, such as this one, "Little Twelve Toes".

Enjoy.

OR NOT.

I don't remember this video as much as Bert did.  It obviously didn't help me remember how to multiply by twelve either.

As a Rush fan, I had to throw this in,  "2112"(their fourth album).

Epic album. But not as good as "Exit Stage Left" or "Moving Pictures".

Here, also is a link to the Village Voice's post for"12 Songs for 12/12/12.  There really aren't a lot of songs on this list that I like. Uh, "Twelve Days of Christmas"?

A trip back to twelve years ago with these factoids:
  • Pluto is downgraded  from a planet to a "dwarf planet"   What. The. Fuck!
  • Sadam Hussein is executed
  • The movie "Borat" is released after two years of controversy (I still can't watch that movie without cringing)
  • Google purchases YouTube for  $1.65 Million!
  • Twitter was launched
  • Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin died after a stingray barb pierced his heart
  • Popular songs were "SexyBack" by Justin Timberlake, "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira and Wyclef Jean, and "When You Were Young" by the Killers.  (I had to look this up because I don't remember what was popular and I certainly didn't and still don't listen to popular radio-friendly music)
  • TC was in Kindergarten when I first started this blog. She is now a SENIOR in high school (what!)
Last year's post:
"Turn it up to 11 for PCaRH's blogaversary!" March 2017

Thank you all for reading my blog after all of these years. I really do appreciate it.

Wow twelve years! Isn't it kinda cool to be part of the original food bloggers prior to all this crazy social media stuff? I do miss the days... Cool facts! I moved to SD almost 12 years ago too and don't remember what was going on back then! =D

Yes Cathy, can you believe it? If I didn't have the blog, I probably wouldn't remember what I ate twelve years ago, ha ha. Thank you for the well wishes. I really do enjoy sharing and hopefully, educating.

Lynn, thanks so much! I never did the social media stuff or went to any social sponsored events (I pay for my own food and no one knows who I am, which I prefer) but did blog around the same time when some of our other friends started. It's been a fun ride so far.

Thank you Kirbie! :) I hope I can still keep this up, ha ha. I'm glad we met through our blogs. We've had so many memorable meals/desserts together.
