My Star Wars Tree

Several years ago when Borders was going out of business...

I bought this lovely purple Christmas tree, which I used on and off over the years.

This year however, was the best version yet...

because I made it into a Star Wars tree!

The Death Star topper (well, it IS a STAR, right?) was made by printing out a partially reconstructed Death Star, then glue sticking it onto a "crown" of old gold certificate seals I had in my office. They were embossed with the CSF seal and weren't being used. Their pinked edge made the topper even more "star like" in my opinion.

The non-Star Wars ornaments included black disco balls (also bought on 75% clearance from Borders) as well as glass ball and bell shapes.  I also included my various Star Wars Pez dispensers (Bert made hooks using electrical wire for me), and miniature ornaments featuring ships from Star Wars (X-Wing, Darth Vader's TIE fighter, the Millenium Falcon) bought on 50% clearance from Target years ago, plus assorted mini ceramic Star Wars ornaments.

I had this in my office at work and when I brought it home for the winter break, it took its place near our hearth and basket of Christmas/holiday books (bought when TC was still a baby/toddler). It was fun putting this together and I'm thinking of even decorating our actual big Christmas tree with my Pez dispenser collection next year, and I have quite a few! The Simpsons, Star Wars, Star Trek TNG, Lord of the Rings, Kung Fu Panda, Phineas and Ferb, Marvel and DC characters can all mingle together in harmony on the tree, heh heh!

What a cool idea! When I saw the nerdy tree at Whimsical Alley earlier this year I thought I'd love to do a nerdy tree in the future.

I think I will do a mostly geeky/nerdy tree for this Christmas - as in hanging my Pez collection and perhaps Bert can hang his action figures (not dolls, mind you). TC has a lego Milleniun Falcon somewhere and I would love to display that.
