Kawaii Sushi

In looking at some of my older photo file folders, I found one place I had almost forgotten, Kawaii Sushi...

It's in this busy strip mall on Mission Gorge Road...

The same one with Donut Panic (the sign has since been updated to reflect the name change) and the new Purple Mint...

I believe the sushi place had a previous name then reopened as Kawaii. Last year, a car crashed into their storefront so they closed to rebuild. See the yogurt escape next to it? It's gone now.  Back in September when I was here with the educator GF's for TORC's Frankendonut at Donut Panic, I noticed it was going to be a new coffee place, S3. I

It's still not open yet but it looks like Grantville will have their own hipster coffee bar soon!



One of their specialty rolls...

Monkey Balls?

These fell apart. Rolled salmon filled with fake crab, shrimp and scallops.

Eel roll...kind of rolled sloppily.

Sushi combo that we shared...

One of our appetizers arrived DEAD LAST. While this sucked, the calamari rings themselves (and the batter) were fried quite well.

Too bad we got it last. It would have been nice to start off dinner with these.

The sushi was pretty pedestrian. The Monkey Ball things were nothing special.  Everything here is pretty gringo.  It was crazy busy when we got there and dead when we left.


I think we would have done better at Soup Plantation.

What is it with stupid drivers? Earlier this year, another dumbass crashed into the store front of Donut Panic, which sucked for them since they had to close for quite a few months to rebuild.
