Christmas 2015

Christmas it is...

Merry it shall be...hmmmm?

For the record, we haven't seen the new Star Wars movie yet...

but we plan to sometime during the break. Perhaps once it dies down.

My nativity set collections - Capiz (bought from Seafood City last year), wooden one from Target, carved olivewood from Jerusalem:

and the newest CD for my holiday music collection. This one is HILARIOUS.

It's pretty annoying if you're not a Ren & Stimpy fan but hey, the songs made me crack up.

Earlier this month, the bridge lights over Market Street and the 805...

and fast forward to Christmas morning, where I received this gift from Santa (aka Bert). I think my hints worked.  After having had those pecan waffles from Olympic Cafe, I've been wanting one of these Belgian waffle makers.

I didn't expect the waffle maker to make TWO. Bert said this was the "better model".  Ironically, he will most likely be the one to use this even though it's my gift, heh heh. In fact, he made the first batch that Christmas morning.

The waffle iron has a "browning dial". This was the 4 (highest setting is 10).

The waffles came out pretty good but I didn't eat too much that morning since we were going to my parents for Christmas lunch.  I think I'll add more pecans next time (this batch made quite a bit of waffles and one cup of chopped pecans didn't seem like that much after all).

Desserts at my moms - My Dad's hopia (yellow bean) rainbow jello, Edam cheese (queso de bola), crackers, assorted rice cakes fro Desserts Plus, almond rocas (dark chocolate covered too!) and various fruits.

The lunch spread - pancit, embutido (Filipino pork meat loaf), ham, roast beef plus lumpia.

Green beans, mochiko macapuno (made by me) plus mashed potatoes and gravy.

Everyone on my side was there along with a lone adult nephew (my cousin's oldest and my godson) since everyone but him went to a wedding in the Philippines. The young ones had a fun time running around in the backyard. One of the other nephews got a suction cup bow and arrow set and they were shooting those off in the back yard, trying to knock down red cups and such.

Repeat in one week with slightly different food for New Year's Day.
