For me, public gardens are a source of relaxing entertainment and wonder especially if one is interested in flowers, plants, trees and such...

I found out about Arlington Garden while doing an online search for "free gardens" in the area...
It was in a nice and quiet neighborhood and while it was not a huge sprawling and overly manicured garden that charges admission, we were quite excited to check it out. Arlington Garden is Pasadena's only dedicated public garden. There are various spaces within that feature certain plantlife, such as succulents and cactus, another a Zen garden, and wildflowers to name a few.

There are sitting areas with benches, picnic tables or individual chairs scattered in the garden's spaces. You can be by yourself, or in a group depending on the seating provided. It was so peaceful throughout our short stay there.

There are paths that lead to semi-secluded sitting areas where the plants/flowers are different from where you once where. The gardens had that neat "element of surprise". I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

I was enamored of this passiflora...

This little area had a mirrored gazing ball which we thought was cool...

Statue of St. Francis of Assisi by the Succulent Garden...

We spent maybe an hour exploring here and enjoying the many different gardens within the garden. There were some locals there as well but for the most part, it was uncrowded. This garden is a local treasure especially for the neighborhood. I envision people having picnics there and from some videos I've seen on youtube, a lovely place for couples to say their weddings vows too.

Lovely place this was! And it didn't cost a thing!
It was time to head over to the far reaches of Colorado Blvd. We had a few items on our agenda before going to our hotel room, the first being a record shop we recalled seeing during a previous visit and the second, a new bakery that I was practically salivating after (Well, not really but you get the picture)...
