I hung a quick right and just across the bridge in the strip mall with the 7-11...

is another one of my favorite panaderias....Gloria's.
The last few times I went here were at night. I was happy to see that they had a full selection of their meat filled breads (only $3!)

These are older photos of the bread case from two years ago. During that visit, I wanted the machaca and they were out. Luckily today they had some and they were still $3 each.

Gloria's, unlike the bakery I was just at, is almost always fully stocked. They have such a great variety here, but since I'm picky, I really only like a few things.

Pretty cookies but on the tasteless and bland side...

Ah yes, the machaca filled bread. You could see the cheese that oozed out. Inside was a tasty filling of shredded beef, thinly sliced caramelized onions and cheese. So good this was!

The other two items for 'research purposes' were this round flat cinnamon and sugar crusted crisp. Both TC and Bert enjoyed this. I thought that the empanada I chose would have piloncillo (raw brown sugar) but I must have picked the wrong one because later that evening when I cut it open, it was filled with cheese dammit.

The awesome yellow El Camino across from the stripmall's parking lot. See the lines above? Those are for the SD Trolley (between the Palm and Iris Ave stops).

At home...the machaca filled bread. Man, all of these carbs...

The cinnamon crisp and the cheese filled empanada.

Everytime I've gone here, it's always the same lady. She's always very nice as well. The neighborhood is well served by this humble bakery with a great selection.

I THOUGHT I was done, but there was still ONE MORE stop...just one more!

Machaca filled bread sounds amazing! I didn't even know they made that!
I was so happy they had it there during my visit. At night it's already gone!
