Bert didn't turn left at Florida so he had to make a U-turn past the Georgia Street Bridge...

so he could head back and hang a right on the corner of Florida St. and University...
I'd been wanting to use this coupon FOREVER it seems. Today was our lucky day.

It was kind of like a mini "date" for us since TC was out with friends for a party and later that evening, she would be out with another set of friends from school at the beach. Two dates in one day? We'll take it! So Twist is in between this liquor store and a Mexican eatery (which I'd like to explore after seeing their menu)...

Their menu is both outside on the window and on their walls inside. Seating is limited - bar seating inside for maybe four or five and two tables outside. We were originally going to eat inside but settled for outside once the group of three left.

"The Titanic" was on! Before I snapped this pic, it was the "sex scene" and they were nekkid. I waited for a more "decent" photo to put up on the blog, haha. Dylan, the young man working the register also worked as the server. He was so personable and friendly and even came out twice to check up on us and the family next to us. As you can see, it's quite "cozy" in here...

The coupon was Buy One Get One (up to $8 off) so I chose "The Boring" Burger (yes, that is the actual name and it's anything BUT boring) while Bert had the Asian Swine sandwich, both of which were $7.99. With one free, that's a pretty %$#@ good deal.

We didn't order anything from this menu but maybe some wings are in order for a future visit.

Our lunch - I chose a salad (balsamic was on the side which Bert had) which unfortunately had some blue cheese crumbles in it. I had to pick out lettuce leaves which were unsullied from its stankiness.

Bert's side were the fries which were probably SYSCO but hey, they were thick and crinkle cut and lightl seasoned. We liked this!

Here is my burger again, magically without any bites since the above group shot was inserted out of order but I'm anal and like having my food group photos first. While the burger wasn't overly huge, it made quite an impact flavorwise. The burger was done medium rare and included lettuce, tomato, fried shallots, a thick slice of smoked gouda (yes!) and bacon aioli.

The meat was so tender and juicy! It wasn't red as I feared. This was probably one of the better burgers I've had all year (including the so called slider I had the day before at Seasons 52 in UTC).
Bert's sandwich was filled with pulled pork, smoked gouda (Again? what is it with this cheese here), hoisin sauce, cilantro and spicy aioli. Their menu description includes tomatoes but I didn't see any (wait, Bert said the slices were hidden). His sandwich compared to my burger was quite hefty. The toasted read held up well; it was soft but it didn't turn soggy. The pork itself was tender and thankfully not overly saucy.

Regarding the banner below, who would have thought that North Park would turn into a major hotspot for restuarants and craft beers? A lot has changed over the past ten, fifteen years here.

Who else went to Twist Sandwiches?

I'm glad to admit that I have NEVER read a book written by Nicholas Sparks or watched a movie based on his books.
I have another coupon for Twist from my new book and plan to do a revisit and try a couple of other menu items. Bert and I already know what we want, heh heh!

I was wondering how this place was CC.....I pass it every so often.
They have some unusual choices in here. Not your run of the mill sandwich shop. Bert is curious about their wings...
