I had to have it again...
the banana bread iced coffee from Holsem that is...

complete with Valhrona chocolate shavings...

It was just a few steps away from our old school Chinese lunch at Pekin Cafe.
TC, not being the coffee drinker was more keen on going to Iceskimo which she hadn't been before.

She had the Summer Love while I tried the Special...

I want one of these machines. Okay, not really since we have no counter space, but IF we did, then yeah, one of these would be nifty.

Mine on her right, hers on her left.

TC's was their regular ice milk covered with condensed milk and fruit. My passion fruit ice milk was topped with pineapple chunks, mango poppers and fruity pebbles. I confess I got it for the looks and didn't realize how tooth achingly sweet it would be. The sourness of the passion fruit ice was too sour and I hardly ate the fruit.

In the future, I'll stick to either the lychee ice milk or get what TC had or at least the base. My daughter enjoyed her dessert, managing to finish most of it while I could only handle half. Since we had our cooler, my leftovers were later enjoyed by Bert, the lucky recipient.
Previous visits to Holsem (notice, plural):
June 2015
Previous visit to Iceskimo (during my birthday food crawl):
May 2015
While we were at Iceskimo, we noticed there was still a line of people waiting to get into Kula Revolving Sushi. Although TC wants to go there, I'm not willing to wait in a line for it and will probably wait 'til the hype dies down even more...

I almost went to Holsem this weekend but... yeah, it didn't happen. There's always next weekend! I want to go to Kula, too, but I'm afraid of the lines I've heard about. I'll have to wait for it to die way, way down too.
OMG, you have to go here Mary. This is probably one of the most creative coffee shops (if not THE) in San Diego. The people here are nice too, not pretentious a-holes like at some othe rplaces.
As for Kula, I'm in no rush to go there. Not a big sushi eater and I feel like I would be 'manipulated' over there with the sensory overload, ha ha.
So far the Banana Bread is my fav one at Holsem of the 5 drinks I've tried =) though mine didn't come with chocolate shavings.
The first time I had it, they didn't put the chocolate shavings. I am happy th at th ey can do their flavored hot drinks iced too.
