I'd bumped into him a few months ago while doing errands in Kearny Mesa. Lunch was his choice and it turned out to be near his work.
Down the street is the second location of Green Acre, which has a lovely garden near the parking lot.
From the parking lot edge you can see the freeway. The vegetable and fruit garden has filled in since Cathy's visit (see her posts linked at the end).

Why ca't my garden look this awesome? In the foreground was lavender...which smells nice but I just don't want to eat it in my food or drinks, haha.

When you see this sign, there are steps leading down to a bigger building where Green Acre is housed.

More of the view...open spaces. All those tech/bio-med buildings filled with brainiacs.

Seating outside as well as inside. We got there pretty early (11:00'ish). The lunch rush was in full force when we left (when this photo was taken).

Ubiquitous hipster chalkboard. I liked the mini shelves with gold painted toy horses.

It's gorgeous inside. Lots of seating and opportunities to play games like billiards and mini basketball as well as board games..

Our crumpled and warped menu. Dennis ordered his usual. Because I just had a temporary crown put in (and it's still there by the way dammit), I stuck with soup and a salad. Even the salad was hard for me to eat. It kind of sucked having to chew my food on one side. A few more days of this and the crown should be put in this week. Ugh. Anyhow...

My soup of the day (Zucchini) and Dennis's "grass fed beef chili":

Dennis' Caesar salad with chicken and my champagne greens salad ($3) with root vegetable fries ($4/sweet potato and regular potato). Both salads came with a pretzel bun ($1/mine was a la carte). My meal was ordered from the sides menu. The dressing was put on the side and I barely ate it since I'm not fond of vinegar based dressings.

These were so cute in their litte paper bag. Nicely salted.

My pretzel bun also came in a paper bag which seemed a bit extraneous. It's hiding here.

It has the "eye of Sauron".

Now this was a salad!

It was great catching up with Dennis. He is such a super nice guy! He is lucky to work close by and have several great lunch options for lunch.
Who else went to the Campus Pointe location of Green Acre?
Cathy of mmm-yoso went not once or twice, but three times...

I wish there were more places like this down south but, no. The place seemed a bit sterile or maybe I felt like a fish out of water being amongst the office/scientist set. However, I considered it a cultural plunge! The folks who work at the building also get a nice discount unlike plebeians like myself, heh. Their menu is like the other location. I would have liked to have a sandwich but because of the tooth situation, will have to wait.

Hi CC, it was nice catching up! Too bad about your tooth the day, we'll have to do something again down south next time. Cheers.
Yes it was! Thanks for the great lunch rec! Down south next time, for sure! :)
I've only been to the other location so it was nice seeing these photos! That's awesome they have games and stuff at this one. The soup looks yummy. I bet you'll be excited to get that crown out!
I finally got the regular crown put in. It's so wierd to be able to chew and eat food on the left side again!
This was a nice location too!
