It was a pretty hot summer if you recall...
and I remember it was a very very hot day and that I was annoyed by the flies outside while we were eating our lunch. I also remember foolishly wearing platform sandals that day and HATING walking around the unpaved garden grounds. Luckily I brought a pair of more comfortable flip flop sandals that I switched into after suffering unholy foot torture.
This post will consist of our two visits, the first in the throes of summer and the second, just recently in fact.

See the coffee kiosk? I made a mental note to go there next visit (which I did!)...

Staghead ferns and the air plants. It was nice and cool under the patio umbrellas...

I wished that TC and Bert were with me so they could see the extensive grounds of this nursery which had everything. And by everything, I mean, everything you could want for your home, your garden as well as your own urban farm, plant and animals included! For my first visit, I didn't really see everything. We didn't realize how large the place was. We marveled at the farm animals such as baby chicks, a few goats and even a pony in a pen (I don't think it was for sale though).

I liked this flowering plant because purple = win!

I haven't seen these types of library drawers in a long time. Remember the Dewey Decimal system?

It was just a quick looksee since we had other places to visit for dessert that day with the gals.
More recently, I finally went again and this time with Bert and TC. This was our anti-black Friday activity - have lunch at a nice but not crowded place plus a visit to the nursery. See the grill area below? We originally sat near there. No one was out there yet, but when the employee started grilling the food, we quickly found out why NO ONE was sitting on that side of the patio. All that $%#@ smoke!

The trendy plants of the moment....I told TC, just get some for free from her cousin's Nana! Seriously.

I was so happy to see one of these here! The calamondin is known as the Calamansi, a native Philippine citrus fruit. We have a tree in our backyard and I like using the fruits as an accompaniment to my pancit or as "calamansi-ade".

There were areas of the nursery devoted to bonsai, cactus, and succulent...

This was the view from the top of the hill...

Pretty neat place!
I thought this video was iinteresting, featuring a group of folks called the San Diego Urban Sketchers. They went to the nursery and drew and painted scenes from the nursery. If you are not fond of flute music, then feel free to press the mute. Like I did.
This was also another cool video featuring the owner of the nursery (you can also see footage of the grounds)...
Wow, I didn't know he had bees here! I wish I had seen the quails that Kirk mentioned...

We hope to visit again to get garden ideas and maybe have lunch again next door! The day was still young...TC wanted to see if she could visit her favorite cat at the bookstore while I wanted dessert over in Grantville...

Goats! Man I didn't know they had animals in there, too.
All kinds! I want to see those elusive quails though. TC was bummed that she didn't see the cat...it was slinking around then hiding.
