Yes, to one of our favorites....
where we noticed they changed the menu prices by writing them rather unceremoniously atop the old prices on their menu. Kind of like how the old Asia Cafe did (along with taped on post it's, heh heh). There were slight price hikes on almost all of the items, except a few such as the Lao sausage (cue "Hallelujah" music here), so yay for that.

Bert and I saw plastic sleeved page on the wall and asked about it.

Nem Pa is a fish dish served with fresh lettuce and herbs, vermicelli and pickled vegetables. It's not on the menu and costs $15.50. Got this we did, along with an iced coffee (since they didn't make any iced earlier at Nomad Donuts), sticky rice (still only $1) and our new favorite, the Lao sausage that I'd been thinking of since the first time we tried it.

Tbe sausage is definitely housemade and this was confirmed by my conversation with one of the chef's who is the aunt of the young guy who served us last time and today. His family are the new owners of Asia Cafe. A new (to us) younger gal was also working that day and explained Nem Pa to us. The sauce in the middle is a sweet, watery chili sauce with crushed peanuts in it. It's like crack. It's also necessary for the minced fish served with rice crisps because it was on the bland side. We've not had this dish before so we weren't sure if the fish was meant to be that way. In any case, the sauce really brightened things up, along with the pickled daikon, carrots, and onions. Everything was so fresh and we were happy that we tried something new here.

Loved that shirt, "Notorious Fish Sauce" at the shop next door...

...and in the farther corner, was a Laotian import store, better known as the one with the mural...

It was only Bert and I today since TC was at dance practice nearby. She would end up enjoying (heartily I might add) the Nem Pa leftovers...
Previous visit to Asia Cafe:
"Asia Cafe under new ownership! Oh yeah, plus Lao sausage!" November 2014
I can't wait to go back again to try the Nem Pa, as well as other specials or "untried" items on their menu...
