Milk Jar Cookies

Despite our disappointment about the changes at Whimsic Alley, we were still able to find a few related gifts for TC's friend...

like the Flying Cauldron Butterscotch "Beer" and a pin that said, "Perhaps our friend's loyalties lie elsewhere...(a quote from Voldemort to Wormtail in "Deathly Hallows Part 1")...Potter freaks they are!

We saw this cookie place on our way there so we stopped by on our way out...

When I was last here in 2011 with D, there was a Quizno's right next door to the shop.

Well that sandwich place is gone now and in it's place, a hipster cookie joint decorated with pastel tones and shabby chic furniture...

They even had milk bottle "chandeliers"!

So cute and clever!

The cookies were beautifully arranged on super cute pierced display stands. Each cookie was a whopping $3.

They had flavors like chocolate chip (with and without nuts), chocolate peanut butter, cinnamon sugar, oatmeal raisin, rocky road, white chocolate raspberry and a few others I don't recall.

Heart decorations were still up since it was Valentine's weekend...

We splurged on ONE (singular) cookie and let TC pick the flavor - Mint Chocolate Chip.

The cookie was pretty sizeable in terms of thickness.

The vintage saucer on which the cookie was served was quite pretty.

The cookie itself was firm, but not hard and crunchy. There was some "give" to it when bitten into. It was moist (but not too soft) and had nice big chunks of chocolate inside.

The mint flavor was evident throughout the cookie itself and also in bits and pieces of mint chocolate chip pieces within (if you look closely, you can see the mint green pieces).

There were also thick discs of dark chocolate in the cookie which made every bite a pleasure.

I don't know if I'd spend $3 for a cookie again but I have to say, this was pretty good.

Our next stop would be in nearby Atwater Village for some savory bites before heading over to Griffith Observatory...

$3 for ONE cookie?! Obviously you are paying for more than just that cookie, geez. Can you get a discount if it's not served on a fancy plate? The milk bottle chandelier was super cute though, I gotta admit.

hi mary - yeah, well people pay the same amount or more for a $%#@ cupcake, right? but yeah, that was a bit steep. we were helping pay their rent, haha!
