Bert had to return something at Big 5 next door anyways, so burgers for lunch it was!
We were able to use this coupon I had from a fundraiser booklet (given to me free by one of the coaches, score!)...

I know there are other Boll Weevil locations throughout San Diego, but this is the one down south, off the I-5 and Palm Ave exit. The land this is on used to be farmland. As kids, we used to pick tomatoes in the fields with our mom. The old Mervyn's is now a new Wal-Mart (a small one). Nice to see the strip mall coming to life again.

They revamped their menus too! According to the waitress, it's been about three weeks since they changed it up.

We looked over their choices...

We always look at the "On Fire" burger but never get it. Habanero pepper scares me.

I love their fresh condiments tray!

Our side salad ($2.99) with croutons and Ranch dressing on the side. Nothing too exciting here.

But wait, here it comes...our burgers cut in half, as I requested, along with some onion rings ($5.99/large order).

Although their batter isn't the kind with "crunchy crumbs", we still enjoyed these rings! Smooth batter and all!

TC's half of the Avocado Bacon Cheeseburger (pepper jack cheese), which she loved, as did we (we all shared the other half, mostly TC). The 1/2 lb burger was $8.99 and since we had the two for one, good deal, eh! Turns out we had this burger last time we were here!

Bert and I shared the Crispy Onions with Bacon Cheeseburger. We really loved the barbecue sauce on this. The crispy onions were actually crispy onions, not onion rings (as I had feared they might be, but luckily weren't). This had a nice crunch to it.

The beef patties were chargrilled and juicy. Plus, we liked how each burger half was staked with a thick wooden dowel! Very handy!

If I could eat here everyday, I would, but no...that would make me balloon up like Violet Beauregarde or Augustus Gloop.
Previous visits here and here.
Up next, a visit to a local market in search of a particular potato chip flavor...
