at Sweet Sisters Bakery and Cafe. None of the gals besides KD had been here before. A few weeks go during Fall break, I'd gone with KD and our girls.

The construction in downtown CV has been ongoing this whole later summer and fall...
It looks like they are resurfacing the city streets and sidewalks with bricks.

It will look quite nice once it's all finished. Because of the construction, it was a bit of a pain to cross the street to get to where we wanted to go, but it's just a temporary issue.

We wanted to try an assortment of desserts to celebrate TORC's belated birthday.

Lots of choices here...

Clockwise from 11 am: The birthday girl's chocolate mousse cake, D's strawberry tart, my chocolate coffee cake, and D's mango cheesecake.

TORC's cake...I only had a tiny bite but thought it was quite sweet and light.

D's tart with glazed ripe strawberries...

KD really enjoyed her mango cheesecake. The mango flavor wasn't that strong, but the filling was very creamy.

Out of all the dessert, I liked mine the least. Sadly, I was disappointed in this. It didn't taste fresh to me, plus the coffee flavor was a bit too bitter and the chocolate too bland.

Across the street is the Chula Vista Heritage Museum...

Meanwhile, while us gals were out having Indian food at Surati Farsan Mart and Bawarchi Dosa, Bert and the girls had homemade spaghetti and cupcakes. He bought this pre-made chocolate fondant at Fresh & Easy so the girls could use it for their "funfetti" cupcakes (from a boxed mix).

They ended up cutting circular disks and them sticking large pumpkin cupcake sprinkles in the middle. They had a blast while the moms were out. Poor Bert had to endure listening to the One Direction cd. Ugh. If you don't know what One Direction is, count yourself lucky. Be very very glad that you aren't the parent of a tween girl!
