Portland Day 8 - Return to Ha & VL

Our vacation was nearly over...only a few days left in the rainy Pacific Northwest.

We normally don't go back to the same place, but we broke that rule here several times with repeat visits to Wunderland (post is forthcoming), An Xuyen Bakery and this unassuming soup place...

To refresh your memory, here's a look at their menu (this was the "weekend" page), where a different soup is served each day. Once it's done, they close the store. One weekend, two different soups are offered. This was a Saturday so...

We ordered one of each. This was the Bun Moc Hanoi ($8),  the Peppery pork meatball soup with rice vermicelli. It came with a side plate of sliced cabbage and herbs...

The other soup was the Bun Bo Hue, with its plate of garnished, sliced banana blossom, lettuce, lime wedges, and herbs. Of the two soups, we liked the flavor of this one better. TC, on the other hand, found it too spicy and enjoyed the peppery pork meatball soup more.

Bert and I liked the slippery round rice noodles in the Bun Bo Hue.  The flavors were really intense and the proteins within a bit interesting, especially the blood cube (it's hidden but we did try it).

Looks like the regulars from last weekend were here again, taking their smoke break after their breakfast of soup.

Our first visit to Ha & VL where we had the turmeric noodles and pho. This post also links Wandering Chopsticks more in depth post...

Now that we had our breakfast slash brunch, it was time to head off and do some more exploring...
