This was the same Carl's that Bert was eating lunch at when I went into labor nearly twelve years ago. I remember begging the nurse to page him (ha ha, "page", remember this was 2000)! He was only gone for 30 minutes but it felt like a lifetime! So anyhow, this is THE same one that we fondly remember as his lunch break visit before TC was born...
But what did we get here? Hmmmm...
The visit was mainly for TC's sake. Prior to this, we were at the hospital because she sprained her foot while kicking the soccer ball around. Turns out she had to wear one of those lovely "boots" with the Edwards Scissorhands-like velcro straps for a week. On the plus side, she was also able to get a PE excuse. At least her foot wasn't broken but just overextended which made the muscles strained and sore.
So, we ordered a "Big Burger" ($1.29) for TC alone and some sweet potato fries for all of us to share.

The fries look a little too dark for my liking, but after taking one bite we changed our tune.

There seemed to be some sort of "coating" on the fries. I bet it was Crack because we couldn't stop eating them!
Here's that burger...Now compare.
This.

to the version you see (in reverse) on the window advert. Any resemblance?

I thought not.
The food never looks as good as it does in the pictures. It's kind of like expecting Rob Pattinson/Johnny Depp/Michael Fassbender and Alexander Skarsgard but getting Bobcat Goldthwait and Vern Troyer instead.
But TC didn't mind. She still liked her burger with cheese. She is, after all, still a kid (technically 'tween', ha ha).

And here's one last look at those fries...

Have any of you tried these sweet potato fries? If so, what do you think of them? Do you recommend other versions elsewhere? My favorite are the ones served at Urban Solace.
More food posts to come...Canada, Portland, or whatever else I feel like churning out! Like buttah!

I've really really good things about their fries. Burger King supposedly has really good sweet potato fries too. The coating on them remind me of the treatment they have at Rally's.
Hope TC's foot is better!
Hi Darlene - I suddenly have the urge to 'compare' and go to BK!
Yes, I thought the same thing about the coating - looked like Rally's fries!
Yes, it's crack on those fries! I really enjoy them although Carl's Jr isn't always my first choice for burgers. It is the closest burger joint to home though.
hi c- i agree. if i'm going to have a fast food burger, it would have to be in-n-out! bk is the closest to our house but i never really go there.
