TC decided on this shaved white chocolate "bombe" for her birthday cake...
We wanted to try something different for TC. Plus she was excited to have a dome shaped cake for her 12th birthday.

This is their strawberry mousse bombe cake. The white chocolate shavings reminded me and Bert of our wedding cake. Of course, this was 1995 when all wedding cakes had this outside treatment.
We had two back to back birthday celebrations (food posts to come) this weekend. One for the nephew who is one day older and one for TC. Her real birthday is today though.

We loved the look and taste of this cake. It was frozen and we had to defrost it 3-4 hours ahead of serving time. It was so pretty inside. The filling was still cold and firm and tasted like ice cream, but it wasn't. Everyone loved it! This was a winner! Bert wants their mocha version of this for his birthday.

It was also a nice surprise to see the chocolate layer in there.

Our baby is now twelve. Almost a teenager. Where did all the time go? This is a child whose first words included, "duck", "hat", "clock" and "vent" (Bert's dad used to carry her around the house and point out all the vents to her). From a "Wiggles" listening toddler to a "One Direction" crazed tween. From a pretty dress with frilly socks wearing little girl to a skinny jeans and Converse clad kid. TC's grown nearly five inches in the quick span of a year. She's fast approaching 5 feet. Bert measured her three weeks ago and just yesterday for fun. Can you believe she grew 1/4 of an inch in three weeks? OMG right?
Past Birthdays:
2011 - "Eleven is one louder"
2010 - "10"
2009 - "TC's Bday, PVLL, etc"
2008 - This year is missing because I was ill that year
2007 - Getting Older
She's a good kid and we're happy to not have major problems or issues with her. Hopefully in twelve more years we'll be celebrating her graduate school commencement!

Happy Birthday to TC! Hehe, I think it's funny that vent was one of her first words and that your husband pointed out all the vents.
Happy Birthday, TC! The cake looks delicious!
Thank you Ms Kirbie and Ms CAB - from TC! :)
and 'vent' was taught to her by Bert's dad actually. :)
