You're better off going to a Mexican raspados or licuados place...
like Teresita's, where the fruit is fresh, not frozen. This was the last stop on our little South Bay food crawl which encompassed part of Bonita and the western reaches of Chula Vista.

I ordered two Chamangos (one for me and Bert to share and one for TC) while CAB and Cathy ordered one each. Dennis passed on this but had a sip to try.

I think it's safe to say that they all found the taste of the fresh mango smoothie with mango chunks and powdered chamoy to be quite interesting and even refreshing.

The chaca chaca can get to be pretty salty after it melts down, but doesn't it look pretty?

See my original post on Teresita's here...
Turns out Bert didn't really like the flavors so I ended up freezing the rest. I finally just finished it the other day. TC enjoyed hers and really liked seeing the mixed up colors.
It was a nice end to a long day of sampling different types of tacos and Mexican style seafood as well as checking out Hogetsu, a South Bay institution and the still fairly new Seafood City. We'll have to do this again and hit up the spots we didn't have enough time for and maybe go to some other interesting places we spotted during our leisurely drive.
Happy early New Year and here's to more good eats in 2012!
Update - Here's CAB's wrap up post on Teresita's and Hogetsu. She is now officially addicted to Chamangos!

OMG I loved the chamango! As a matter of fact, we're heading down your way this afternoon for some food run. Hopefully Teresita's is open. I'm getting two and freezing one for later!
