Fruit Salad...yummy yummy

When TC was a toddler, she used to love watching The Wiggles, an Australian quartet that sang childrens' songs...

"Make sure to use a plastic knife!" Ha ha!

Our house was Barney free but we endured the Wiggles...especially this hilarious song! Recipe to follow...

This is a really easy recipe. Here it is WITHOUT the cherries. This fruit salad uses a mix of fresh and canned fruit. My mom's version uses the Del Monte fruit coctail mix and cream. I don't use cream or cream cheese in mine. Just the fruit...

Fruit Salad

Ingredients:

The fresh fruit:
Strawberries
Blueberries
Kiwis
(optional - Mangos)

The canned fruit:
Jackfruit
Lychees
Mandarin oranges (you can use fresh oranges if you wanted)
Pineapple chunks (this could also be fresh)

Fruit from a Jar:
Maraschino cherries

Optional:
Nata de coco (coco jel cubes, which can be found at Seafood City, often used as an ingredient in Halo Halo)

Directions:

I'm going to assume you're going to wash your fresh fruit first and drain the canned fruits

Everything goes into a bowl, ok?

Cut and quarter the strawberries
Slice the jackfruit into strips
Peel and slice the kiwis
Add the lychees, blueberries, pineapple, and mandarin oranges, and nata de coco
Add the cherries last.

Mix it up, make it look pretty and enjoy!

One last note, I'm so glad TC's musical tastes have diversified from the Wiggles to stuff I like other non-smarmy musical acts, not counting Justin Beaver Bieber...Indoctrination is nearly complete. Making her guess what's playing on my iPod is paying off (insert evil laugh track here). Actually, I give her freedom to listen to what she likes for the most part. No  gangster rap or death metal...yet. Heh heh.
