Return to Villa Capri

I'm on a roll aren't I? Weekends are my only free time. Come this week, my posting will come to a standstill...

Sometime earlier this summer we went out to dinner at Villa Capri, a local Italian restaurant located at the Albertson's strip mal on the corner of East H and San Miguel Road.

I'd been here before for lunch but never for dinner...

I feel kind of bad for the businesses here. It's hidden and there are a lot of vacacies in this shopping complex (which also includes Los Primos, Mea Kwan Thai, Figaro's Pizza, and Starbucks to name a few).

We ate in the covered patio which had live musical entertainment, a woman singing jazz, soft rock, and pop standards with a guy on keyboards as accompaniment.

I had a coupon with me but it was another coupon fail because it was only valid for Sunday through Thursday and it was a Friday night. Boo.  Note to self, read the fine print carefully next time!

Bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For lunch, they keep the oil and vinegar separate. I ate my bread plain since I'm not a fan of balsamic.

The Tropicale Salad - Arugula with palm hearts, tomatoes, avocado and shaved parmesan cheese with a sort of lemony vinaigrette.

Pollo alla Parmigiana - Bread chicken breast topped with mozzarrella and marinara sauce, served with sides of mashed potatoes and vegetables (carrots and zucchini).

The Ravioli Aragosta - Handmade ravioli filled with lobster and crab in a creamy lobster bisque sauce! This was so delicious - I could have eaten the whole thing..

It was nice being out with Bert and TC. It was a few days before I was to officially start my work year again.

I'll have to use my coupon on a valid day next time! There are a few things on the menu I want to try...

Yum, just thinking about the sauce...The other location is off of 56 (can't remember the exact exit) where the strip mall with Carvel Ice Cream is. Between the 2, I think I like the original one a little better. Seems the food is a bit more consistent.
