Like a vampire, I was covered up (with towel) with slathered on sunblock and under a big beach umbrella while the girls made sand castles and ran around in the shallow waters...
You can see Point Loma in the distance.

The IB Pier.

Lunch was at the nearby Beach Club Grille. We were hoping to eat on the top patio, which is called "Woody's" but it wasn't open. We didn't want to eat inside because there was live entertainment and it was too loud and also kinda lame (some dude noodling around on a guitar).

We chose to eat at the front patio to people watch. Unfortunately, they seemed short staffed. There was only one woman working that day and she seemed like she was either everywhere or not there at all, which prolonged our lunch.

Their menu prices are also out of date by a dollar or so. WTF! What a rude surprise when I got the bill.

One of the girls got the fried shrimp with fries.

TC and the other gal both got the Cheeseburger with thick cut fries.

I got the Patty Melt (hamburger meat)...

They really buttered up that bread when they grilled it. So good! I feel my arteries hardening already.

Before we left, the girl hung out at a nearby playground (not pictured)...I noticed they took out the huge art installation at the beach, the one that was red, orange and yellow and had "Imperial Beach" as a sort of gateway to the beach area. Wonder what happened to it...

Oasis Ice Cream Parlor was our next stop. I had the double chocolate chip and cookies and cream ice cream (the one with the spoon) while the older girl had double chocolate chip. The younger girl opted not to get ice cream but took a paleta to go. TC's was her favorite watermelon sorbet. The owner was there that day and was friendly and gracious as he always is...

We got several paletas to go (for Bert and the girls' parents) in various flavors. No photos but trust me when I say there are all amazing! Can't wait to go here again and try some new flavors...
