I was at Dark Horse a few days earlier with a good friend and saw the signage and had wondered about it. Luckily, it opened a few days after so Bert, TC and I went over after church to give it a try. A line had already formed...
Their flavors are all housemade and small batch. One of the owners told us about the Grandpa Badger citrus flavor. It was named after his grandfather who passed away recently; he owned a citrus farm ad the fruits were from his farm. We made sure to order that flavor in our flight, which included four flavors.

Everyone here was so friendly. There aren't a lot of seats out here, but there is lots of seating outside near Dark Horse.

The flavors were Double chocolate brownie, Apple Pie, Roasted banana with pb and Grandpa Badger citrus.
I liked that we could sample four. I hate committing to just one flavor. The double chocolate brownie was so rich...
while the apple pie flavor was quite nice, with pieces of apple pie within...
One of my favorites was the incredibly rich roasted banana with mini peanut butter cups...Wow, just wow.
We were pleasantly surprised by the Grandpa Badger citrus. We were expecting a sorbet as most fruit flavored ice desserts are sorbets. No, this was creamy and with a lovely mixed citrus flavor. So glad that we tried this flavor. It was more meaningful after hearing the owner speak so fondly of his grandfather.
They were giving out free pins to customers as well so each of us got one of these. Cannibalism anyone? Ha ha, this is a pretty fun pin. I like the happy look in the big cone's face, even though he is eating his friend.
On a more recent visit, a stop at Mutual Friend marked the end of a recent food crawl with friends...
We were up for one last stop, dessert here. Not busy like our previous visit. We were able to snag the tables...We all got flights...

One of the couples had the Happy Camper, Grandpa Badger, the Coconut spiced chai and the Roasted bana with PB...
My other friend and his wife chose the Grandpa Badger citrus, the Happy Camper, the Dark Horse Coffee and the Raspberry rose.
Our flight:
Happy Camper, Roasted banana, raspberry rose and the dark chocolate sorbet. Each flavor was pretty good. I tend to like the flavors that have mix ins more like the Happy Camper. The raspberry rose didn't taste too alcohol'y, thank goodness. It was pretty refreshing.
A new flavor that we tried - the Raspberry Rose:
Plus the Happy Camper, which was basically S'mores. This was the favorite flavor of all three couples.
My friend's seven year old liked the raspberry rose; it was the flavor she chose for their flight. Their 18 month old was asleep but woke up in time to enjoy some of the ice cream as well.

It was a long day, but a fun one, exploring City Heights and ending with dessert here. Looking forward to trying upcoming limited flavors...
