and I had a coupon in my wallet for this place...
so here we were...and this time, we tried their potato pancake on the side. It was nice that we were offered a choice between a serving of one versus two, thanks to our super nice waitress. This latke was perfect. Nice and crisp exterior with a creamy interior; served with applesauce and sour cream.

More next time.
Our breakfast - I'm so predictable. I got my usual - sausage, eggs and hash browns.

This was carb and egg heavy. Wishes there were more sausages. A serving of two was kind of meager. But at least, they were juicy and not dried out looking like the ones I had at a recent visit at Sunshine Pancake House

Bert got one of their specials, the crab cake benedict with some nice looking hash browns. They know how to do it right here. The greens were spinach.

He thought it was okay. He was expecting the crab cake to not be as "soft" as it was. Like, maybe a fried crab cake patty on top of the bread. I only had a tiny taste of the crab cake itself; it was okay. I am just not a fan of the poached and runny egg with that Hollandaise sauce.
Coffee was down at Scrimshaw. Bert hadn't tried their holiday drink, the downtown Julian. It's cappuccino with housemade apple syrup, topped with cinnamon and nutmeg and garnished with candied ginger with a rim of brown sugar. I had that last time with MFH and really liked it. I tried their Vietnamese iced coffee for the first time. This was pretty damn good but too much to drink in one sitting, so I took most of it home in a to-go cup.

That candied ginger was pretty strong. Bert enjoyed this drink. I'm just glad that it's not pumpkin flavored because I FUCKING HATE PUMPKIN SPICE, ha ha ha ha.
Previous visit to Elijah's:
February 2018 (includes link to first visit in Dec 2017)
Too lazy to find latest link to Scrimshaw especially since I've been jumbling the chronological order of my posts
I have one more Elijah's coupon for next year and will bide my time before I use it...
