Return to Lookout Park + Red Kettle Coffee, Summerland

Traffic back to Carp wasn't so bad.

we had a few short detours before heading back to explore...

We wanted to checkout Lookout Park once again. The last time we were here was last year and it was right after the terrible shootings at Pulse nightclub. The flag was half mast from what I recall.

We enjoyed our views of the ocean...in the distance (you can't really see it) are oil rigs hidden by the marine layer.  The beaches in this are are known to have oil and tar. I remember because TC got some on her feet and it was difficult to remove. She wasn't even barefoot. It had soaked through her flip flops,  ugh.

This was just a short stop, but was still fairly close to our next coffee stop, which is across from this old school liquor store.

Red Kettle Coffee is a cute little shop...

They had the usual suspects along with pastries and tea.

The shop inside was super cute; very beach cottage like.  The gals working here were really friendly as well. I ended up buying a hand stamped Summerland card for TC.

Our drinks - I don't remember what Bert got, but it was probably a macchiato; mine was an espresso con panna.

The roast was pretty strong for mine, but it was tempered by the whip (not sure if it was housemade).

During our short stay at Red Kettle, our car was bombed by a few resident birds.  There were about five huge splats on the hood and windows which we cleaned right away with wet wipes and paper towels.  If you let that bird poo stay, the acid can really mess up your car's paint job.   This was a gross but necessary undertaking.

The day was still young and we wanted to explore as much of Carpinteria as we could...
