I noticed the sign on this pole changed...
compared to this...

(photo from my "Revisit - Future home of Bayshore Bikeway" post, March 2017)
A few of the metal signs were rearranged and the sunset with the silhouette of the biker changed to a more plain purple sign with a small icon of the Coronado Bridge. I prefer the older sign since it's seems to relate more to the name of this area (bike themed) instead of the generic bridge.
This visit was back in late December. I recently met up with a friend I hadn't seen in nearly seventeen years. Her son was in our wedding in 1995 way back when.
She hadn't been to Imperial Beach in years and being this was a crawl...we went to Trident Coffee first for the cold brew flight (four for $4)...This was her first time trying cold brew and I was glad that she ended up liking it.

The Edible Arrangements was a gift from a client; the young lady working here even offered some to us, but we politely declined. I noticed that the laminated menu had this marked on it, "ask coffee tender" (as opposed to barista since they don't really 'make' the coffee). My favorite of the four was the Ambrotos once again. My friend and I ended up going to Siam Imperial afterwards (post is here) and capped off the day with drinks from the newly opened Brigantine near the IB Pier (pix near the end of this post)...
And speaking of Ambrotos, there was another time Bert and I had a free morning and we stopped by for a 12 oz to go...

This was $4 while the canned version, the Ambrotos on Nitro was $5. I got one of those as well to savor later that month.
Bert thought this bullet casing turned bottle opener was pretty cool.

The large bar height table that was there during our first visit was gone. When my friend and I went in December, it was gone entirely. During this recent visit, the empty space was now filled with a table and benches.

The canned Ambrotos was popped open a few weeks later...

Enjoyed in the comfort of our home during the holidays.
Another coffee shop I recently visited was Scrimshaw; my partner in crime that morning was CAB..

Her drink was the Vietnamese iced coffee (which looked waaaay too milk for my preference, but she liked it so that's what's important) while I opted for their herbal tea (hibiscus pomegranate) since I was suffering from a sore throat during the holidays. I made the mistake of letting the tea steep too long and it ended up tasting like potpourri. Ugh. I didn't even finish this. Bad mistake.

This was our last stop during my crawl with my friend...The Brigantine opened in early November and is located right across from the IB Pier. On top of the restaurant are luxury condos. While you can't see it, to the left of these condos is Bibbey's Shell Shop.

As you can see, this was taken during the holidays (which reminds me, I still haven't done my Christmas tree compilation post, but oh well)...

We sat out on the patio. It was a nice and warm day for December. We can't complain about our weather here in San Diego.
The original intent here was to get desserts, but instead, we got cocktails - the key lime martini for her and the White Russion for me.

It's 5 o'clock somewhere in the world...

The folks working here were really friendly and we had a great streetside/peoplewatching vantage point. I'll have to come back to try their food next time. Our good friend One, who lives in IB, recommends this place and says it's nice to relax and enjoy the view especially during sunset.

Chula Vista needs a REAL coffee shop. Sorry but the Nest kind of didn't count since they didn't do any proper espresso based drinks (as nice as they were, don't get me wrong). Everything was 12 oz or more; they used flavored syrups and paper cups. The space also changed their concept and name to focus more on food, to entice folks who are in downtown CV doing a bar crawl.
