Trident Coffee revisits

The once blank wall that greeted IB or Coronado bound drivers heading west on Palm Ave...

was now emblazoned with a new mural...

It's located on the east facing wall of Soapy Joe's car wash. See the blue bubble thing with eyes? That's Soapy Joe, ha ha.

Here is that same wall from afar and on a rainy morning:

Make a right on 13th Street immediately after the "Welcome to IB mural" if you are seeking a caffeine jolt.   We were back at Trident Coffee to try a few more flavors of their cold brew. Plus Bert wanted one full size (12 oz) hot.

We took a few snapshots with the Bayshore Bikeway as a backdrop for our holiday photo; Bert was armed with a tripod and an actual camera. You can see the salt piles over at the South Bay Salt Works in Chula Vista...

It was overcast which made for even lighting. No harsh sun.

The view looking westward to the Strand.

Back inside Trident...

We'll have to try a bag of their beans next time.

I thought this sign for their tip basket was amusing - Turkey or ham?

Flight (Ambrotos, Rising Tide, Freedom of the Seas & Broadside Blast, the last one being a green tea with charcoal and lemon) + one heated up cold brew (Son of a Sailor)

Notice the table is made from ships' steering wheels:

TC didn't really like the green tea.  I'm still wary of drinking stuff with charcoal to be honest. I loved all three of the cold brews that I tried. They were all smooth and easy to drink. Some of the choices we had the prior week were horrid. It's kind of like beer - I like certain flavor profiles only and really dislike the hoppy beers.  For the cold brews, the fruitier flavors with lighter roasts are not my thing.

I had to get Ambrotos again (the Greek word for "immortal" and "divine").

On a more recent visit...

Their Nitro infused canned coffees are $4 each. If you drink it there, that same 12 oz. is $3.75. I got my favorite, the Ambrotos (this is $1 more; probably because it has that MCT oil in it) which I will probably enjoy later this week in the comfort of my own home dammit.

Eric pouring our drinks.  The thing that looks like a super long faucet spout are the steam wands. One of which was utilized for Bert's cold brew which was heated up.

TC has come to the conclusion that she doesn't like any of the drinks here. The cascara - nay. The green tea with charcoal - barf. The coffee with kombucha - nope.

A view of their roasting room with Navy  medals by the window...

The Ambrotos is my favorite thus far  - I actually committed to a full 12 oz cup.

I was pretty much wired the rest of that afternoon.

Previous visit to Trident Coffee:

"The new Pond 20 fence in IB" April 2015

Only a few more flavors to try, including a decaf.  They are also supposed to be changing out a few taps so I'm looking forward to trying those as well in the near future.

Word to the wise - If you need to use the bathroom, there is a public bathroom in the same building, but not in the same room as Trident.  The men and women's bathrooms are separate but you have to wash your hands in a communal area in the middle. Something I'm not really fond of.  Just sayin'.  Also, since this place is still relatively new, the bathrooms are still nice and clean and not grody and vile. At least not yet (what!).
