Heading out of San Francisco and on to the Jelly Belly Factory

It's back to the Spring Break 2016 Road Trip pix...

This was Day 6 and we were en route from San Francisco to the state capitol...

We didn't encounter too much traffic as we left SF...

The Salesforce Tower as of March of 2017 was still unfinished. It has since been completed and is San Francisco's tallest building at 1070 feet. My cousin's husband was one of the foremen for this project.

We headed east on the Oakland Bay Bridge. You can see the new span on our left.

As I've said before, thank goodness for our Fast Pass transponder.

These are those Berkeley "big people" statues on the University Ave bike/pedestrian bridge in Berkeley.

Fast forward for forty something minutes later....

We hadn't been to the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield since 2004. TC was still a little kid. We wanted to check it out before meeting up with a friend for lunch.

See the jelly belly mascot? He's EVERYWHERE.

Cute or terrifying? You decide.

The factory tours are timed and you wait in line until your group is ready. The tours are at your pace, but you can't really lollygag for too long at certain spots because there are workers that are lurking in every hallway (I'm not kidding) making sure no one is messing around and that the tour is moving forward so that you're not lagging and interfering with another tour, ha ha.

It smelled very SUGARY in here.  Guests could view the facilities on a second floor walkway. There are glass walls of course, but you can see everything that's going on from how the beans are mixed in giant vats from being sorted into bins or packaged into containers.

This is out of order and I'm too lazy to put it where it should go, but know that there is a "Sample Bar" on the bottom floor of the Jelly Belly Factory. You can sample up to three different bean flavors of your choice. We each partook of these samples. One of the flavors we tried was chili mango (not exotic to us in San Diego, especially if you like Chamango drinks).

There were so many great flavors!  As to what was on our hands? After almost a year later, I don't remember what they were, but I did like everything I chose.  The pastel green one might have been mojito.  There was a line of alcoholic drink flavors!

Back to the tour. There is a guide eplaining a few things but for the most part, guests could stay a little longer at certain stations depending on their pace.

There he is again.

These portraits were made entirely out of jelly beans.

More of the factory (you can see more candy portaits as well):

Now that is a lot of candy! Every guest was given a small box of jelly bellies as well as their new "sport beans", which is like a Gatorade version of jelly bean.

The gift shop...

Our candy souvenirs with certain flavors we wanted...

We enjoyed some of these while on the way to our next stop.

Before hitting up Sacramento, we made plans to meet up with a junior high school friend of ours at his restaurant in Vacaville...
