Wow Wow Waffle almost 3 years later

When I was out with MFH last weekend, we parked across from this...

our eventual dessert destination. It had been a few years since I'd been here...

I also noticed that there was new artwork (as of april 2017) on the north facing wall of the 30th Street Coin Laundry, in which Wow Wow Waffle uses their side alley and space in the back.

The mural you see here is by Chicago artist, Sentrock and will be featured separately in an upcoming post.

Guess, what, I had a coupon for this place, surprise! Which was just as helpful especially since they've raised their prices over the years.

There was not a long line but the M.O. now is that you must order first at the counter before walking in to sit down.

Fresh and Light ($5.50) plus Chocolate Infusion ($6) were our picks. My coupon was for up to $7 off.  My total ended up being $5. I'm thinking that he added the total and deducted $7 and added .50 for tax.  In any case,  I wasn't going to complain.

I tipped him the dollar that I saved!

More artwork along the side of the building...

Our dessert for the day - Her waffle was pretty much the same as mine except hers had chocolate sauce (Ghirardelli).  I didn't detect any Belgian pearl sugar in these waffles.  :(

Both waffles were delicious but we could only manage a few bites.

That is why I bring my cooler folks, so it can be enjoyed later...

While waiting for our waffles, I noticed a really tall guy getting water. When he turned around, I saw that it was Jake, Mary's boyfriend!  It turned out that Mary and Jake were out that day (and also using her coupon! Great minds think alike). They were seated in the back.  It was nice to see her and Jake that day.  While I and my food blogger friends are out and about, it's rare that we will see each other in the same place at the same time!

TC was my companion for a more recent visit...

Although we are both on break, I felt sad that she had sports practice almost every single day that week.  However, she was free today so I was happy we were able to spent a little time together this morning.

I chose the Number Seven ($8.50) while she had what I had last time, the Fresh 'n Light ($5.50). Our total with the coupon was $7.50. Again, I think the guy totaled it up, deducted $7 and added .50 to the total.

I chose to have the horrid goat cheese subbed out with brie (it was either brie, goat or mozzarella).  I think the first time I tried this waffle when WWW was new, I had it with mozzarella.

There was really a generous portion of thick candied bacon on my waffle, along with creamy avocado. TC had a little bit of mine as well...

And in the bathroom, sketches and empty aerosol cans by the artist/muralist.

I'm glad they have a bathroom now. It's near the kitchen out back.

Previous visit to Wow Wow Waffle:
November 2014

When it's busy, they call out your name as they did when MFH and I went (I used her name); when it's not as busy, they can figure out who you are with the table numbers, ha ha.  FYI - I hate giving my real name because people always have me repeat it and almost always pronounce it and spell it wrong. A pet peeve of mine, heh.

So, I'm not sure if they changed their sweet waffle recipe, but I was kind of bummed that our sweet waffles didn't have the Belgian pearl sugar chunks in them. That's what made these waffles so different.

I used to see this waffle company at the LJ Farmers Market. I haven't seen them there recently though and miss them. They had great waffles and lemonade!
