It was planned by her daughters and husband...
and led us to the heart of Little Italy...
I never knew that Steven Tyler was of Italian descent!
The surprise party was held at the rooftop patio at Mimmo's Italian Village located next to the Little Italy arched sign.
Everything was so lovely, from the fresh flowers, the minimal pink and gold decor and even dessert table.
There was a set menu in which everything was excellent such as these burrata, roasted tomato and slivered basil topped crostinis...
The salads were either Caesar (not shown) or mixed greens with candied walnuts, beets and tomatoes (I asked for my salad to be plain; the default dressing was balsamic).
Another appetizer served were the fried calamari which were so delicious...
There were four choices of entrees. TC had a pesto penne (not shown) while Bert chose the spicy shrimp linguine with creamy chipotle sauce. Freshly grated parmesan cheese topped this delicious plate.
My entree was the cavatappi with housemade sausage with a tomato cream sauce. Both sauces were excellent. The sausage was so flavorful...
Dessert included cupcakes and/or the cake (provided from Northgate).
My neighbor was genuinely surprised when she walked in. The intimate gathering included immediate family, close friends and some of the neighbors from our street including a couple who used to live on the street but have since moved. It was such a lovely affair; her daughters and husband did a great job with the planning which included a playlist of her favorite artists/songs and a photo ready corner (with gold fabric as the backdrop).
We met the current owner and her husband (third generation owners); they were both super nice and made sure that every guest was taken care of. Our family had such a great time and were honored to have been included as a guest for this special occasion.
