(getting on to the 5 from the 54 around 7:45 am, ouch)
and sharing my day off was my husband Bert...
who was kind enough to take on the morning drive up to OB where we would have breakfast.

Full fledged posts to follow but here are just a few highlights.

Breakfast was at a mom and pop place on Newport...

Followed by a walk on the longest concrete pier on the west coast (the best coast!):

and a short foray to the eroding cliffs...

Of course this day ended up being a food crawl, so we checked out the new LPM:

I changed out of my sneakers and socks. It turned out to be a warm day (it started off overcast) and felt more comfortable in my flip flops (thank you Payless).
Lunch was enjoyed out here...

And calories were burned via a stroll on Shelter Island...

followed by a visit to a nearby old school bakery so I could get a few cake slices for later tonite.

We crossed my "fear bridge"...

and enjoyed the view of San Diego's skyline on the OTHER side this time.

My parents are so thoughtful, making me pancit bihon so I could have "noodles for long life".

At least I didn't have to cook today!
I had such a blast today with Bert. It's great being out of the office.
Later on, dessert from the bakery was shared by all of us. Candleblowing, making a wish and all that.
Last year's highlights

Thank you Jinxi! O_o
A belated Happy Birthday CC!
Thank you Kirk!
Happy birthday! That sounded like such a fun day with the hubby. I love the colors of the sneakers! I hear ya about the warm weather lately. I wore flip flops the other day for a walk in PB and they hurt :( Maybe I need to invest in some cushioned flip flops for this season.
Thanks Faye. It was really a fun day! I had two coupons at DSW ($5 total off) so I used it to get these orange Converse. My feet were burning up later that day so I switched to my silver flip flops instead. I hate covering my feet with socks.
Happy (belated) birthday, CC!! Looks like you had an AWESOME and well deserved day off to enjoy with the hubby. I always like to take my birthday off, too. Makes it feel extra special.
Thanks Mary! Yes, my having my birthday off is like my own personal holiday. :)
Happy belated bday! Looked like a wonderful day off! =)
