We made pretty good time with our stops...
Amused I was by this billboard advertising the Mid State Fair, held every summer in Paso Robles (a favorite pitstop of ours). Yes, Duran Duran is still around!
Unfortunately, the cookie pace undernearth the acorn clock tower wasn't open yet. No time to dilly dally though.
Another pitstop at James Dean's "last stop", now a combination convenience store, gas station, and eatery.
Our last stop before San Diego was meant to be Porto's but the line was out the door, so pass on that.
We kept driving, noticing the original Bob's...
but had our late lunch at another iconic diner (which has been around since 1960). All the photos on the walls are of famous movie/film stars who have been here.

Ah, familiar territory...
(I was in the back seat so TC wouldn't get carsick)
Despite all of the fun we had, it felt so good to be back home. We were back down in Chula Vista by 5:30 pm and started doing loads of laundry as soon as we were settled ("crack that whip!")
The prospect of going in to work the next day was a bit of a bummer, but as En Vogue once sang, "Back to life...back to reality"!
