Point Loma two-fer: Supannee & Better Buzz with the sis

Like me, my sister was also on vacation from work...

The mural above with the initials SAN (which is the San Diego airport code) at the San Diego Airport commuter terminal which sadly, replaced the iconic Charles Lindbergh mural in 2014 (officially titled, "Lucky Spirit").

(photo courtesy of waymarking.com; this mural was removed due to extensive damage in 2012)

If you ask me, I prefer the older mural since Lindbergh's plane  for his famous transatlantic flight was built in San Diego. The new mural is so busy looking and it's kind of hard to make out the letters.  The new mural was not painted but were made from digital files printed on vinyl.

Sis and nephew #2 joined TC and I for lunch earlier today in Point Loma. We took the "long way" (via Harbor) to get to Point Loma not realizing we would hit airport traffic...

which kind of sucked, but the important thing is, we got there in one piece!  It was the lunch rush so it was quite crowded and noisy inside. Service was also on the slower side. The special below? Nephew ordered that. It was also the same price listed on the menu so I wonder what made it "special"; I usually think of a special as a "deal" or something. Anyways, blah blah blah.

I wanted my sis to try my favorite Thai place in SD. She let me order for us while the teens got the lunch specials. We like to call Nephew #2 and TC "the twins" because when they were young, they really looked like they could be siblings. They used to pass themselves off as twins as well, which was funny.

My lemongrass iced tea with simple syrup:

Summer rolls (with shrimp and fresh vegetables) with peanut and sweet and sour sauces:

TC's Pad Thai with tofu lunch special:

Nephew #2's BBQ chicken special:

I originally wanted to the share the Fried Rockfish but surpise of all surprises, they didn't have any Fish that day. So there went Plan B, which would have been the Fried Perch.  Instead, I had Plan C in mind, the Lemongrass Chicken.

plus the Thai Sausage with a side of sticky rice:

I can never get enough of this!

On a whim, I also ordered the Tod Mun Pla (red curry fish cakes) which came with a side of cucumber relish in a sweet chili sauce).

These were so juicy, and wonderful! Look at the fresh cut green beans and the Kaffir lime leaves in the patties.  Of all the dishes, my sis liked this the best followed by the Lemongrass chicken. The bbq chicken was a huge portion and nephew took some of it home for later, along with my brown rice that I didn't touch.

Before heading home, we stopped by the Better Buzz on Rosecrans for some cold drinks.

Service was spotty. The girl ringing us up undercharged us and my sis, being honest, let her know that it should've been for four drinks not three. The other glaring error was that they forgot my nephew's drink order. We got our pretty quickly and were wondering what was taking so long with his. When I asked them about it, the girl tried to play it off but really, they forgot about it. That fkg sucked.

All of our drinks were iced blends. Below, my sister's coconut mocha and my mint mojito (forgot to have them make it with soy or almond milk):

TC''s Chai Tea Latte:

Nephew's White Chocolate Mocha Buzz (which my sis liked better than her coconut coffee drink):

The drink were good but the young ladies working here are airheads. In the past, the workers have been efficient, but today was just, WTF man. They seemed more interested in talking to each other instead of doing work. There were also lots of gross flies IN the coffee shop. Not fun.

Though Supanne House of Thai did not have any fish that day (wth, right?), that only gives me another reason to return in the near future with my sis so we can have that fried rockfish.

That is my favorite item on the menu. If you do get this, make sure to order a side of sticky rice to eat it with. So delicious!
